People always ask me how I came to work as an acupuncturist. It's not an easy answer because, while the study of Chinese medicine came recently in
my life, I realize that I have been laying the groundwork since I was young. As a native of Montana, I grew up playing soccer, hiking, skiing and
biking in the mountains around my hometown. Activity and fitness were a way of life. The mountains and the natural world were a part of me. As I
grew older, in addition to fitness, I became interested in whole-food nutrition and the politics of food. I read all I could about nutrition,
food production and natural health.
At the age of 17, I was in a major car accident which led to nine years of severe neck pain and headaches. I suffered many treatments that never
made a difference -
until acupuncture.
After being treated successfully at Bastyr University, I fell in love with the philosophy, history and theory behind Chinese medicine and natural
medicine in general. I decided then that this was my calling. Five years later, here I am. I am thrilled to be running my own practice and helping
others as I have been helped!
I view health from a holistic and integrative perspective and specialize in pain management, women's health and geriatrics. In addition, as an
outdoor enthusiast, with a passion for rock climbing, I am interested in treating injuries and pain resulting from climbing, skiing, biking and
all other outdoor pursuits and athletics.
I look forward to being your partner in health!
